Inspection of Stainless Steel (SS) structures by localized NDT methods, posses several difficulties and limitations. The present work presents the use of Acoustic Emission as a global NDT method for the assessment of structural integrity of SS structures. Advantages and limitations are discussed and representative application examples are presented including pneumatic test inspection of a process column, hydraulic test of pressure equipments and pipes.
